The science of improved absorption

Seracal is the only dietary solution clinically proven to increase fat and nutrient absorption from food1-3

Rooted in science, backed by results

When patients struggle to absorb fat and nutrients from the foods they eat, Seracal works with the body’s natural digestion process to provide highly absorbable fat calories, essential fatty acids, choline, and vitamins A and E to food.1,4

Seracal helps the body better absorb fat and fat-soluble nutrients contained in the food being eaten while being a healthy source of calories itself (70 kcal/serving).

The research behind Seracal speaks for itself. With strong clinical evidence, Seracal’s effectiveness is clear, supported by data, and proven in practice.

A $7M NIH-funded study compared Lym-X-Sorb®, the active technology in Seracal, to standard fats over 12 months using the same primary endpoint as a leading biotech product.1

The study found that Lym-X-Sorb improved:

Higher-Need Subjects: n=12 and 14 for the control group and Vytala group respectively

Patients with the lowest BMI and the highest need for weight gain saw the largest improvements.1

In patients with impaired absorption and/or exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), food can’t be broken down to be absorbed and moves through the intestines, causing symptoms like gas, bloating, nausea, diarrhea, and weight loss.

By tracking the coefficient of fat absorption (CFA), clinicians can assess the efficacy of treatments like Seracal in improving fat absorption and managing conditions related to malabsorption.

Lym-X-Sorb use resulted in an increase of:

The bar chart compares three metrics—Height (HAZ), Weight (WAZ), and BMI (BMIZ)—between two groups: “Active Control” and “Seracal.” Each metric shows two bars, with “Active Control” in gray and “Seracal” in pink. • For Height (HAZ), “Active Control” has a value of 0.02, while “Seracal” has a higher value of 0.06. • For Weight (WAZ), “Active Control” is at 0.12, whereas “Seracal” is at 0.17. • For BMI (BMIZ), “Active Control” has a value of 0.14, with “Seracal” showing the highest value at 0.20. The pink bars for “Seracal” feature a bubble pattern, distinguishing them further from the solid gray bars representing “Active Control.”

Seracal doesn’t just improve fat absorption — it drives healthy growth and improved outcomes. The results also suggest sustained benefits over time.1

Seracal is a medical food intended for the dietary management of malabsorption. It is recommended for use under medical supervision in adults and children over one year of age.

More pockets, more power: How Lym-X-Sorb micelles work

Lym-X-Sorb, the backbone of Seracal, has been used since 1984. This proprietary technology has unique characteristics to boost dietary fat absorption. What sets it apart? It’s all about the micelles.

In normal digestion, micelles carry fats across the intestinal barrier.

Seracal micelles have extra pockets, carrying more fat and nutrients for improved absorption.
